The Assessment Process

The assessment process typically involves several stages, each designed to ensure a thorough and accurate evaluation:
01

Initial
Consultation

An initial meeting (usually by phone or occasionally by video) clarifies the purpose of the assessment, gathers preliminary background information, and establishes goals for the assessment. Releases to speak with other relevant parties may also be obtained during this part of the process.

02

Diagnostic Interview
and Testing Administration

Our experienced psychologists conduct in-depth diagnostic interviews and administer standardized tests that may include questionnaires and performance tasks. The selection of instruments depends on the individual’s needs and the purpose of the assessment.

03

Analysis and
Interpretation

Once the interview and testing are completed, we analyze the data to interpret scores, patterns, and findings. This process involves comparing results to normative data and considering individual circumstances. Sometimes additional assessment is required to provide further clarification based on results of initial data gathered. The end result of this stage is typically a report that will be given to the appropriate parties.

04

Feedback Session

Depending on the nature of the assessment, a feedback session may be scheduled to provide the client with a clear understanding of assessment results. During the feedback session we discuss findings, answer questions, and collaborate on next steps, such as referral for treatment or pursuing services such as workplace or academic accommodations. Depending on the nature of the assessment, the client may be given a copy of the assessment report during the feedback session.
